The NFL MVP race is all about quarterback play, and the winner of this year’s award is no different.
While it has been a relatively quiet season for quarterbacks, the most interesting player on the field is probably Russell Wilson.
The Seattle Seahawks quarterback has led his team to the playoffs in five of the past six seasons, but his play this year has been inconsistent at best.
Wilson has thrown at least nine interceptions in seven of his last eight games, including two of his four interceptions in the Seahawks’ Week 17 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
Wilson is averaging a career-low 3.4 yards per attempt and has just one touchdown and four interceptions through his first six games.
Wilson’s production has dipped over the past two weeks, but he is still a good bet to be the league’s MVP in Week 18.
The question facing Wilson is whether he will be able to remain healthy.
Wilson missed last week’s game with a concussion, which could result in a return to the field in Week 17.
Wilson also has missed time this season with a foot injury.
The Seahawks have won three straight games with Wilson on the sidelines, but they have also been plagued by injuries.
The only quarterback to have thrown at more than two interceptions in his last four games is Derek Carr, who has now thrown a career low four interceptions.
Carr has not thrown an interception in a game since Week 10.
Carr’s injury history has led to plenty of talk about Carr’s durability, but the quarterback has thrown an NFL-high five interceptions in three of his past four games.
He has been sacked 18 times through three games.
Carr will be back in Week 16 against the New York Giants.
He is on pace to throw for at least 1,000 yards, which would be his highest total since 2007.
However, Carr has just four touchdowns in that span.
Wilson should be a solid bet to finish with more than 1,500 yards in his career.
Wilson will be tested by the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 10, but Kansas City has won four straight against Seattle.
The Chiefs have been very solid against the Seahawks, winning two straight in Seattle and one in Kansas City.
Wilson will have to carry the load for the Chiefs, who have struggled in recent years.
Wilson should also be tested at home against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 12, who are currently on a four-game winning streak.
The Rams are averaging just 12.8 points per game and have allowed a league-low 13 touchdowns to opposing quarterbacks.
Wilson’s last three starts have been against the Atlanta Falcons, Arizona Cardinals, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
In those three games, Wilson has completed 55.4 percent of his passes for 2,844 yards, 13 touchdowns, and eight interceptions.
The last time Wilson completed at least 55 percent of passes in three consecutive starts was Week 11 and Week 14 of 2015.
Wilson won’t have the same level of success against the Rams in his first home game since 2013, but Seattle should be able get off to a good start.
The Denver Broncos are currently in a position of being without their leading receiver, Demaryius Thomas, for the first time in his young career.
The Broncos are 2-1 in the season series with the Denver Broncos, but Thomas has missed the past three games with a hamstring injury.
Thomas has just three catches for 24 yards through three weeks.
Thomas is a top-five fantasy receiver this year and is the best bet to win the award in Week 14.
The Miami Dolphins are currently 2-3 with Thomas on the sideline, but Miami has scored at least 26 points in each of its last five games.
The Dolphins have scored a league high 28.6 points per contest this season.
Thomas leads the team in targets (49), receiving yards (1,072), and receiving touchdowns (12).
The Dolphins should be in good shape for their third consecutive win, but it will be a challenge for Thomas to return this week.
The Miami Dolphins have struggled against the run this season, allowing 1,532 yards on the ground to opposing running backs.
The team has also allowed 10 rushing touchdowns in its last six games, but has struggled to convert on third down.
The Oakland Raiders are 4-1 and in first place in the AFC West, but have struggled to stay healthy at quarterback in recent weeks.
Derek Carr has struggled with injury in the past month and the Raiders are expected to have to go without the services of Derek Carr for at most a week.
Carr had a knee injury in Week 9 and has not played since.
The Raiders have been limited to five weeks of games since the start of last season and will be without quarterback Ryan Tannehill this week against the Buffalo Bills.
Tannehall has missed six games with various injuries and has struggled this season to throw the ball successfully.
The Bills have struggled with the run in recent games, allowing 5.4 rushing yards per game.
Tanvehill has a very difficult task on his hands to come up with 20 points and
